Setting course for Visby. Karina Barquet, senior researcher at SEI and leader of C2B2’s LivingLab East, is attending Almedalen Week.

STRATEGY. Hello Karina Barquet!
C2B2 is now gearing up for Almedalen Week.
– Yes, and it actually starts already on the way to Visby. Torsten Linders from the University of Gothenburg and I will be hosting an informal discussion onboard the Gotland ferry from Nynäshamn (23/6, 14:35).*
What will be happening on the ferry?
– Among other things, participants will be able to test a beta version of our own AI bot, which analyzes the impacts of offshore wind power on marine ecosystems.
Once you arrive, what’s next?
– We will mainly take part in Baltic Sea Days on Wednesday and Thursday. But C2B2 and I will also be participating digitally from the United Nations headquarters in New York, contributing to the global consultation process on marine restoration.
You are an experienced participant in Almedalen Week?
– This will be my tenth time! I really appreciate the concept of bringing so many people with an interest in societal issues together in one place. It creates a unique dynamic where people tend to be more open to conversations than usual. And Visby during a few summer days is of course also hard to beat, even if the pace is usually quite intense.
Are you taking part in any seminars?
– Yes, among others Security and Cooperation in the Baltic Sea. It addresses highly relevant issues that are central to C2B2, not least for LivingLab East, which I lead.
Security is a topic you have discussed several times before in this arena?
– Yes, there is strong interest, and we are often invited to speak more about it. This is the third consecutive year that security has been high on the agenda.
Anything else you don’t want to miss?
– The Baltic Sea mingle and Baltic Sea Days in general. They are organized by several of our LivingLab East partners and provide a great opportunity to get an overview of the most current issues in the Baltic Sea region and to meet many colleagues and Baltic Sea friends.
